Someone please give me advice. I'm turning fall fest into a date weekend and would like to get a hotel Friday night with my wife! I want a cool place with some character not just a super stay! Also recommendations for a place to eat and maybe a date idea. Something local! Thanks

Not sure what you like, but we stayed at this radison( http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=wllast)  last fall/ winter. Its right down town, lots of resturaunts and bars to walk to. We went to the figge art museum too. The Casino is just a couple of blocks away.

I've been to a few shows at the Rock Island Brewing Company (http://www.ribco.com/) in the Rock Island District (http://ridistrict.com/). It's a ped mall area with a bunch of bars and clubs. There's a casino or two a couple of blocks away. We stayed at a hotel that was a couple of blocks away. Either a Marriott or a Sheraton. Not sure what kind of entertainment you're looking for but this might be an option.

that casino is no longer there. But they are land based now right off of highway 92. there is also a casino in bettendorf and davenport both with hotels. isle of capri and rythem city. the isle in bettendorf is really nice. In fact we may be eating there the night of the show with the speakers.

If you like pizza, you will want to make a trip across the river to Illinois to a place called Harris Pizza. There are a lot of knockoffs of this place now in the Quad Cities. There are even now pizza places in Las Vegas and Chicago that are advertising "Quad City Style Pizza". They are styled similar to Harris. Don't get dressed up to go there, though. Very casual, but great pizza.

The castle place is Jumer's, but I haven't been there for a really long time, so can't say anything about condition, etc, or if it's even still there.

There's a Shogun Japanese Sushi/Hibachi restaurant in Davenport, that's probably where the wife and I are heading after the show.
