Decent price frags around here?

    So I went to Iowa Seascapes to possibly get some corals. I've been there many times but haven't seriously tried to buy coral. I looked at the tanks for awhile. Was quoted several different prices for the same coral by different employees. One says "that racks $20.00. The next guy comes in and says,"oh let me check". Comes back, "those are $30.00".
    There's no possible way I was going to pay that for the tiny little pin size Zoas in a tank with half the frags knocked over and not open. Not a good start to finding a decent LFS.
    Any recommendations for online vendors would be helpful. Looked at Liveaquaria, Unique corals, premium aquatics, tidal gardens, and so on.

    You can't go wrong going to see Donny or Janette. Both have great frags.

    Unique corals is good, battlecorals is solid, reefcorner, vivid, divers den are all good choices. Nothing locally really. Sometimes seascapes gets decent colonies, but not much for frags. They do get some amazing maxima clams, but have to get them before they start to die in their system. Just saw two of the fattest awesome maxima I have seen in years there, but sadly they must have been there a while as they didn't respond to shadows and started to bleach in the middle of the mantle.

    They look good. I'll have to get some for the small tank next weekend. Bio Cube won't be ready for awhile.

    If your after Zoas then Armydog is definitely your man. Beckerj3 also has very nice stuff. I have a crapload of sps frags and am in new London Iowa if interested.

    Yeah, unfortunately I wouldn't bother with any LFS in Des Moines. All of my frags have come from fellow hobbyists around town.

    Adams isn't any better unless you want to spend 90$ on Ora frags.

    So I hit up Armydog for some frags. Didn't pick up too many because I only got the small tank going.
    I'm glad I found this forum and have the opportunity to get some really nice corals and info. The local fish stores have nothing on the home growers.
    The corals all opened up within minutes of going in and look great, I'll be going back for some more soon.
    Look forward to attending a meeting or two and the frag fests.

    In DSM this is really true. I was just chatting with someone about this the other day. No good stores in the DSM area. Huge opportunity IMO.
