I am putting together my so called last and final build. I picked up a 225 G tank last weekend and am deciding on going with a deep or shallow sand bed. Currently in my 75 I have about an inch and half of sand. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I switched 8 months ago from a sand bed to bare bottom and love it. Before I had issues with the sand blowing all over and corals getting buried now my zoas are growing all over the bottom filling in the spaces. I think if your going sand it's better to have a little deeper.

Im not a fan of DSB in the display. I like an inch or so of the caribsea special grade sand. I have done bare bottom as well and though it is easier to maintain, I don't prefer the way it looks. That and there are some animals that need a sand bed.

A lot of it comes down to aesthetics. DSBs however can crash and they are very difficult to remove later if you change your mind.
