Des Moines Par meter checkout thread

Zach - @Zoobie just picked up the PAR meter. He is hoping to gget his readings in a day and be finished with it sometime tomorrow. @Maureen - he will be getting in touch with you.

 

The par meter is easy to use - but we don't have an instruction booklet. You could probably find instructions on-line. Basically, you should turn off all pumps - circulation pumps and return pump - so that there is no flow. Also, you need to make an adjustment to the readings to get the correct PAR value. You can do a search to find info on why this is necessary with this meter, but otherwise, just take your reading times 1.32 to get the correct PAR value.

Keep the white piece on the top of the probe pointed straight up/no angle. Also, ensure there is nothing shading that part as you want a true reading. It can be easy to cast a shadow over it unless you are keeping that in mind. For your taller tank, you may want to use a stool to reach A tong/long forceps can help immensely.

Hart has the Par Meter...... dropped it off tonight.

 

I am still taking some reading and trying a few programs during the day. I will have it ready to go before this weekend to pass on.

@Boostedbolt - I'll take it back after you finish with it. I took readings on my frag tank - but swapped some bulbs out, and now I don't know if I have the new or old bulb in!
