Ok , I can go to macna because of the 30 dollar fee on sunday. But I also need to know a few things . Does any one know if the des moines zoo is any good. The reason I ask is my 6 year old has no interest in dads tank and my very understanding wife can't control him the whole time we are at macna. He loves zoos and animals ,so if is any good they go to the zoo and I get to go to the event that I have been crying to go to for months.
Also they will be selling livestock , but will there be anything good left by sunday?  I am the one with the nano tank that needs to refill his sps and only needs very small frags.  Any body know ? Really can't wait to see everybody as well. The last couple meeting I have been out of town or visiting family in michigan so really need some reefers to talk to . I am driving my wife crazy I think.lol

I really liked the zoo, I took Kevin Kohen to it last year & he was impressed.

Yes there will be plenty left on Sunday, and often times you can get deals as they dont want to take stuff home.

The Des Moines zoo is actually pretty good for a "smaller" market like Des Moines. Obviously, not on par with Omaha or Chicago zoos but decent. We took my almost 5 year old grandson there in June and he had a great time. My only complaint was there were several areas closed for construction (which will lead to a better zoo) but they may be done by now.

I know I am waiting until Sunday to buy everything but the things that I see and HAVE TO HAVE the day of. Reading threads about MACNA in the past, some vendors do some pretty steep discounts on the final day. I am sure that prime specimens will no longer be availabe, but then again I am not the guy that will be spending hundreds on some super rare morph. The Zoo is excellent and your 6 yr old will love it.  The construction they were working on is finished so there is a new exhibit.  Be sure to have her take him into feed the parakeets right inside the enterance...kids LOVE that.  They can also feed a Giraffe.  They post the times for various activities and they are fun to do for his age.

I love the zoo. I like it allot better than Omaha even though its smaller. I was just there a week ago and the seal tank is tore up. Looks like they are putting in underwater viewing and making it bigger. They had a sign up about the train only running certain times do to construction but it seemed to be running normal. They also have the animated dinosaur exhibit going on which was cool .
