I haven't measured my tap water TDS in a while but it's usually something like 600. Not much lower after the pre-filter stages either actually. Last time I checked TDS out of the membrane it was 5-10. I use an RO Buddy booster pump because my city water pressure sucks (like 30 PSI) ever since I added that booster pump I have overflowed my RODI container at least 6 times because I forget when to shut it off, but I usually remember about 1 gallon too late. It's quite surprising how much floor one gallon or water can cover.

If you are on well water, dissolved carbon dioxide could be a contributing factor. Since CO2 is a dissolved gas, it will go right through an RO membrane and a TDS meter won't detect it. It doesn't hurt anything but it does kill DI resin fast. I was changing DI resin every 60-80 gallons until I checked for CO2. Information on the Spectrapure website helped me understand and address the issue. I ended up installing a degassing tank and now I can't remember the last time I changed my DI resin.

I've also heard the color changing resin (which you wouldn't need since you have a tds meter) doesn't last quite as long as the standard stuff. I use the non color changing, run about 35gal/week and my DI will last 4-5 months.
