So I've noticed some interesting growth on my new frag plugs. One looks like dinos and another looks like it is possibly bryopsis or lyngbya. The frags were all dipped in CoralRx but that obviously doesn't cover everything. I'm wondering if I should dip the plugs in hydrogen peroxide (while trying to keep the corals directly out of the dip). Has anyone had success with dipping in H2O2 and what kind of dilution has worked?

    Here's the dino:

Here's what I'm less sure about but want to make sure I don't introduce something like bryopsis:

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

I will replug a lot of the time, but another option is peroxide. Its 50/50 mixture and you leave the whole frag in the solution for 2 minutes. If you wanted to replug I will use either my gryphon saw or just take a bone cutters under the coral and squeeze, normally just pops right off.

Yeah, the sps I'm inclined to replug. The zoas I'd rather try to treat. 50/50 with h2o2 and tank water right?

SPS is what I typically replug then the rest get the dip. Yup 50/50 peroxide and tank water. I give them a rinse after the dip then into the tank. The dip takes care of pests too.

You probably have some remnants of algae in the tank that are growing on the plugs. Dip the plug in H2O2 and it should kill any byropsis and dinos. New plugs do go through a little cycle once added to the tank.
