We got in at 11:30 am on Tues and my gf was in the water at 1pm finishing her certification, and I was on a dive boat heading out to a wreck dive.

We dove the next four mornings, (two tanks each) and also dove two night dives.

Cozumel is an island south of Mexico in the Yucatan. So we were in the Caribbean Sea. The fish were incredible. We saw tangs, triggers, damsels, blennies, anglefish, butterflyfish, tarpoon, barracudda, hogfish, grunts, snapper, chromis, squirrelfish, hogfish, grouper, jack, parrotfish, toadfish and durgeon. We also saw a few octopus, squid, and huge lobsters turtles, crabs, shark eels, seahorses and rays. I so wanted to catch a crosshatch trigger or a french angelfish or the parrotfish and bring it home but you can't do that there. I did kill several lion fish though. They gave me a small spear with a bungee cord on the end and I could shoot the spear like a bow and arrow. Cut the spines off and feed the parrotfish!

The corals weren't that incredible really. There are tons of sponges, soft corals, whips, fans, and things like that. I only saw one SPS it was purple and looked like a sea fan kind of. The coolest part was on the night dive. All the corals had their polyps out. Especially the great star coral, which looks like a trumpet coral kind of. Anyways, our lights attracted water pods and small worms. We would position our light inches from the coral and the coral fed like crazy. The worms were trapped in their tentacles and even squished their guts out. It was awesome. I fed the coral for so long I almost lost my group.

When we weren't diving we were out and about on the island on our super fast scooter (without a speedometer of fuel gauge). We went to the Mayan ruins, cruised the east coast and drove all around San Miguel fueled by alcohol.

We stayed at Scuba Club and it was an awesome experience. I really can't say enough about that place. That place is all about diving. There were no kids, tourists, or regular vacationers....just divers. The staff was excellent. Every one of them. The dive crews and dive masters were awesome. The boats were fantastic. Most of the staff there have been there forever and most of the guests return year after year.

Here is a pic of my gf checking out her first turtle....

I don't have any more underwater pics. Someone on our dive boat took the one above.

Awesome! but we need more pictures! My wife and I got married on Cozumel on the beach at the allegro resort back in '04. We didn't go scuba diving but we did go snorkeling over the reefs a couple times while there. It was great, were hoping to go back soon.
