Thanks to all the people who came to the DIY fish food on Sunday. It was nice to meet some faces behind the names. I apologize, I will have to ask your name again next time I am sure.

This was my first food making and was fun. I learned a lot and had some ideas.

We made a chunkier fish only blend, that was great

We could also make a blend aimed at more tangs, angels, rabbitfish. Maybe some fresh veggies.

    A few other ingredient thoughts.

Marine snow. Does anyone use this with much luck? I have seen some bad guaranteed analysis results from it.

I dont trust anything from Kent, too many times they have been caught making crap.

    Black worms!

We could also hatch out some brine shrimp and add live to the mixture.

    probiotics?

    Fuel?

how about some oysters or clams.

    Fresh garlic!

I think some fresh oysters and clams would be a good ingredient. I don't know anything about the additives, so no comment there. Herbivore mix would be another thing to look into.

Since you made a chunkier fish only blend, you could do something smaller for corals.

We actually made two blends. The normal blend has tons of small coral foods.

I think peas and carrots have been suggested before, but I never seem to remember to add/try these!
I hadn't heard that, when you add a full 500mL bottle to a batch of 80 bags that's about 6mL per bag so eliminating that would not be a big deal if it's not that good anyways
Interesting. Always open to improvement ideas
I suppose yes, but if it just gets frozen do you think that would make a difference in the end product? The same could be said for live rotifers. There are 2 kinds of brine shrimp cubes and also rotifer cubes, so I figured that covered it

Good one, would that take the place of something else in the current mix?
In the past I have bought a small container of oysters from Waterfront and blended them up really fine, but then I read that the ovarian tissue is what really does the trick and just adding blended oysters or clams is not that beneficial. Reef Nutrition Oyster Feast is ovarian tissue, but that's $$$. Also, clams mussels and oysters are generally very high in contaminants/impurities
You've mentioned this before and again I keep forgetting to try and incorporate it! The garlic in a jar is just so much easier...

Where do you get black worms? I've seen them used for Discus but always wondered where to get the.
