I'm running low on DIY food, anyone interested in doing another one soon?  I wouldn't be able to do it until 9th or 10th, but I that would be right about when I run out of food.  I would be willing to do it at my house if I can convince the wife.
I would be interested in making batches of whole-tank reef food, as well as food for FOWLR tanks, and aggressive/large fish tanks.
I would be able to get most of the seafood very cheap as Taki and China Garden have both said they would get me that at cost or in exchange for food for their tanks.
    So, who's in?

I can do it on a later weekend now, got some more of the DIY food that someone wasn't using (no tank) but still want to do it.

For those interested but can't make it, I can make portions for all and you can pick it up as long as it's reasonable time frame (the wife OKd it but freezer space is limited).

I think the weekend of the 9th/10th is pushing it anyways to get supplies together. For now I say we just find out who is interested and in what.

If you want some list # of bags of each:

    Reef Food : Total Tank
    FOWLR food : No corals
Large/Aggressive : No corals, large chunks

IIRC it was around $10/bag. I imagine I would be able to get it done for the same price what with getting the seafood cheap, and maybe Seascapes would sponsor it and we could get a discount on some of the ingredients.

I'd like some reef. I won't be back in town until the 11th though /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/sad.gif
Depending on overall price I'd go in on quite a few bags. I have a freezer devoted to my reef and snakes now, so I can also hold some for people if they were wanting that.

I came down with a nasty sinus infection and possibly strep throat, which spawned an ear infection so now I'm on 2 antibiotics and Prednisone (steroid). I also got a bag of older DIY food from xmasia to tide me over. So no need to rush into this, but I definitely want to get it done. Been pricing various ingredients so I can come up with a total and per-bag amount, basing everything off of the last DIY food that was done down at Central Campus, but not all the ingredients used there are available anymore, so I'll post the ingredient list before finalizing any purchases so people can chime in with any suggestions.

I'm shooting for $10 per bag, which was a ziplock about 6" x 6" and frozen worked out to about 3/8" thick. I figured that worked out to about 50%+ more than a bag of Rod's Food.

So for now, here's what I have people down for. Chime in with corrections/additions:

    armydog: interested (type, quantity?)
    sblomgren: Reef, 2 bags
    ninjazx777: FOLWR, ? bags (lets say 2)
    stew: Reef, 2 bags
Bela: Reef, quite a few bags (lets say 4)
Me: Reef, 6 bags; FOWLR; 6 bags

    So the total is:

    Reef: 14 bags
    FOWLR: 8 bags
    Large/Aggressive: 0 bags

So that's a little over half of what was made at CC last time, which makes it easy to do, just cut the recipie in half. But I have a feeling more will chime in.

To allow time for people to consider it and get all the neccessary ingredients, let's shoot for Saturday July 30th or Sunday 31st. But I have to check the home calendar yet...so that's just a suggestion.

Ok here is a preliminary ingredient list. This is for the reef food, based on the last DIY food:

    Cod filets
    Squid
    Shrimp
    Scallops (bay and/or sea)
    PE Mysis
    Spirulina Brine Shrimp
    Bloodworms
    Cyclopeze
New Life Spectrum 1 or 2mm pellets
    Selcon
    Kent Marine C
    Kent Garlic Extreme
    BRS Reef Chili
    Two Little Fishes PhytoPlan
    Two Little Fishes ZoPlan
    Eden Sushi Nori

The Marc Weiss SPS Coral Grow isn't made anymore apparently, so I would need something else to replace that.
Also there were 3 bottles of Sera Granuar, which is also not made, so I might just throw in more NLS pellets

For the FOWLR, the TLF products, Reef Chili, and maybe the cyclopeze would be removed.

The large/aggressive would be like the FOWLR, except everything would be chunkier.

So we would make the aggressive first, then blend down for the FOWLR, then add the TLF/chili/cyclopeze for the reef.

So, any suggestions for replacing the SPS coral grow?

Any other suggested ingredients, or anything to remove from the formula?

    Reef: 21 bags
    FOWLR: 6 bags
    Large/Aggressive: 5 bags

    Total: 33 bags

I'm shooting for Saturday July 30th, nothing on the calendar. I also suggested merging the BBQ to the same day, but then again...haven't checked with the wife...
