DIY Food

Are you interested in some great fish/coral food? Generally we try to have a DIY food event annually. But, due to Covid we were unable to hold that event last year. So, its time to make that happen again.

If you have never been to one, it works like this.
1) Start with a great recipe. Check this link for the basics of everything that goes into it: DIY Food
2) Choose a date and location: May 22nd - AM. Paul Horn's house - Ankeny, Iowa
3) Request people commit to the number of bags of food they want - so we know how much of the ingredients to order.
4) On the day of, we all participate in thawing, cutting, mixing, filling.... etc
5) Generally we target for 12 - 16 oz bags. I don't know how much prices for the raw ingredients has increased. But I would initially guess that cost will be around $15/bag.

Anyone can participate. Must be a member to purchase the food. We allow a small amount of bags to be purchased by those that cannot attend - but there is a higher cost for those bags.

Although this is being held in the Des Moines/Ames Region - individuals from the other regions are welcome as well.

We are 2 weeks out from the DIY food event, so we need to start getting firm counts. I need to check with Bud, but I'm guessing we need final counts by the end of the week, so that we can get the food ordered. Here's what I have so far:

The event will start at 10:00. It will take no more than 2 hours time, probably less. We are meeting at Paul Horn's house: 1113 NW Rolling Rock RD, Ankeny, Ia

We are up to 33-34 bags. Plan is to make 40-45 bags. So we will have a few extra.
