Anyone in the DSM area good at building LED modules? I'm looking at a "diy" led for a full spectrum and lower cost than buying a unit from reefbreeders.com (which would be my 2nd choice) but as I read I find that I lack some of the know how and experience in building sodering electrical stuffs. I'm still doing a lot of reading so really just want to get a feel for who I can come to for help /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/tongue.gif

I would say go soderess for starters. The price is not that much different.

    Bud is good.
    Jeanette has learned a lot!
    Matt is excellent!

There are probably others, but those are the ones I know.

I would say check out ocean revive leds they are dimmable and only 150 for a complete full spectrum led light. I Believe That Is cheaper then what you can build one for and they look nice

Ledgroupbuy.com has some great prices and if you call they are very helpful.

The solderless were a breeze (for attaching the LED's to the heat sink and wiring). The challenging part is then setting the controllers to a max level. I don't think I could do that alone.

Matt did a great job helping with the build for our regional meeting in August.

I built a 72 led fixture and another 12 led actinic supplement fixture. Soldering is not that hard as long as you have the time to do it. Got the parts from rapidled.com and heatsink usa. The great thing about a DIY is that you can wire the LED's however you want and can then dim them to get the exact color you are looking for.
