diy skimmer

    just seeing if any have diy skimmer links that i can look at, and also want to know how to build the skimmer that joel has i think its made out of a water jug?

    Here is a link to a pvc skimmer. I made a similar version using a mesh mod and many bits of stuff I had around.

     Here is the skimmer after several months of use.[​IMG]
    I was originally going to do a recirculating skimmer, so that is what the extra fittings are for.
    And here is a couple days production.

    Pretty easy to build, easy to adjust, inexpensive.

    What is the half circle piece that is on the top of the skimmer called? Can you just go in and get something like that from any home improvement sore or is it a special order part? Aside from that piece it all seems pretty straight forward just from looking at that pic.

    It is a 3 x 2 floor drain. You can get them at HD for 8 or 10 bucks.
