Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone would be able to help me. Im planning on replacing the tempered glass on the bottom of the 55 gal im about to set up. I have never done this before and since theres 55 gallons of water and money invested in livestock,  I dont really wanna risk doing it myself. If you have any experience with replacing glass in an aquarium, and drilling acrylic, please let me know if you would be available to help me out /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif I can come to you with the tank. Thanks for reading!

I'm glad you decided to go ahead with this, I think you'll be happy when you have the internal gravity flow overflow. I have a drill and holesaws. I would recommend getting acrylic, probably the thickest stuff you can afford. I think 3/8" would be the minimum, but not sure. I'm sure someone will chime in on this. I also have a glass hole saw if you decide to do it in glass. Measure the inside dimensions of the tank and order it 1/8" shorter than the measurements. Like I told you when you were here, make sure you use 100% silicone. Let me know when you get the piece of glass/acrylic cut and I can bring all my tools over to your place and we can make a project of it.

Good idea on the beer, that's like currency for me. I'd cal to see if they have a piece of acrylic that size and thickness first. It must be one piece.

Actually Regal Plastics in Evansdale might be the better bet for the size and thickness you need, plus I think they will cut it to size for you as well (but dont quote me on that)

I have a good table saw. I would be glad to cut acrylic 4 u. Drilling the acrylic is easy. I don't think the building stores will have acrylic that is more than 1/4" and I don't think reagle is open on Saturday.
