DSM Metro: Last weekend for free Household Hazardous Waste drop-off

In case anyone is like me and has been hoarding a stack of old T5HO fluorescent lamps that they can't bring themselves to put in the trash can, you can drop those off for free in Grimes on the second Saturday of the month from 8am-noon March-December.

So this weekend is the last one until springtime!!

Accepted Items
Bring up to 75 pounds of common household hazardous materials free of charge, including motor oil and filters, antifreeze, fertilizers, batteries, hazardous cleaners, fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs), rust removers, oil and lead based paints and more. In addition, latex paint is accepted for a fee of $1 per gallon or $5 per five gallons.

Directions to West-Side Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Site:
Take exit 127 off of I80/35 to Hwy. 141
Go 1/2 mile to SE 37th St., take a left
Go 1/2 mile SE Beisser Dr, take a left
Go .3 miles to 4105 SE Beisser Dr., Grimes, IA

It's basically just west of Toyota of Des Moines right off 35/80 & 141
