So what do you think of the merger. Will it change quality or prices?

It could also be the exact opposite and the Eco tech fixtures could go down.

Yeah they both could go backrupt too. Both are higher priced options in their industry. More times then not it ends in same high prices, because there is no reason for them to drive prices down. Only competition does that.

    Hope I am dead wrong!

My guess is that they want to keep the price point of the Radions at their current ridiculous level and the only way they could continue to do that was to buy the competition. They also probably want to leech off AIs localized parts manufacturing and cut costs there. I don't know the power arrangement they've worked out but I wouldn't be surprised if Ecotech has more control than AI as to daily operations.

    this from eco-tech.

Will there be any changes to EcoTech or AI prices?
No. Prices will not be impacted

  11. I doubt that we will see any price increases now, but possibly in the future. I bet that EcoTech is the "big brother" in this merge, so they will be deciding where the money goes, comparable to Motorolla and Google's relationship before Google sold them. Not only did they buy out the competition, but I am sure that AI had some patents that EcoTech was interested in. I am glad they are sticking with there own "brands" for now, and later on hopefully the engineers from both parties will come together to make an awesome fixture someday. Just have to pray that prices stay where they are at, or drop (doubtful). Maybe this will erge a new company to make an awesome light fixture for more competition!

I have products from both but the idea of them teaming up scares me. I love ai lights and hope they dont suffer now due to a big brother. I dont care for radions design or looks.

if they worked together that'd be a win for everyone, even if the prices stayed the same.

I bet the prices will go up in the near future because them competing with each other is what kept the prices where they were

That is what I was thinking too. If you don't have competition your price can be higher or if you don't like the competition and want your brand to be the best you could just not do at much with the other product. The best scenario would be they both continue to make their best products they can and continue growth in each equally. I think they will have to stay competitive because if they don't someone else will come along and steal the market away from them or more people will just build their own.

I think their competition is DIY and companies like Reefbreeders....they certainly can price themselves out of the market at some point IMHO
