I've been a Jebao guy for awhile. Pretty anti-ecotech since it reminds me of Apple users.. (ha)
I decided for my new nano, since they just released the new pump, I would give it a go.
After opening it up, getting it setup, and then hearing it, angels were not singing. :|

The physics behind the pump finally made sense, and I scoffed at "90% quieter than the first gen". Though I have an mp10, and people said those were notoriously loud evidently with the first gen pump.

So after a bit of thought and determining what to do as I've seen customer services response, and a few other people say, 'vortech's will have a WHIRRR to them'. (makes sense though)

Here's the sound clips I made. Original crazy-loudness(customer service said "oh! there's a breakin period!", and then pre and post mod.

So there ya go, best I could come up with, without seriously modifying the pump all while saving some cash. Used a washer at the base of the axle and then another on the prop section. (Teflon ftw)

Would you be willing to sell me a couple of your extra washers? They look like they'd fit into an envelope nicely :)

Your video sounds more like the two sides are not properly aligned than the normal "whir" of the pumps, sounds more like a rattle/vibration. Maybe its just the video and audio making it sound that bad, but my old MP40 doesn't seem that loud when properly aligned. It's far from silent and there is a definite whir to it especially when ramping up and down but no rattle or vibration.

Ya, it might be misaligned inside but the wet-to-dry line up is perfect.. Even moved everything around the area to be sure.

When I opened it the first time though I found quite a bit of black "goo". I'm sure they put mineral oil or such on it but if you look at the inner wetside, right under the washer there, that 'V' which is the line across the magnet at 9 o'clock and 3'oclock didn't feel very even, so I suspect the bottom of the magnet is rubbing away. Thought about sanding it down some...
