I have been considering trying to find a nice piece of elegance coral to put in my tank and hopefully have it host my clowns. Anybody have any advice on keeping it and/or know a good place to get some? It seems to be somewhat rare to have in LFS.

I am not so sure having an elegance coral to host clowns is a good idea. I know clowns have been known to host in things like frog spawns hammers and such but the reality is it's not healthy for the coral. Elegance corals are fairly difficult enough to keep alive long term plus the fact this isn't a true symbiotic relationship it has a good chance of simply eating your fish.

    Correct

    1. Elegance corals have a very high death rate.
    2. Clowns hosting any corals is usually very bad on the corals. The clowns beat the flesh against the skeleton all the time causing cuts and infections.
    3. The prefer a sandy bottom with low to medium light and flow and a good amount of food.

I have one and it has 3 mouths. And my clowns stayed in the corner of the tank and didn't host anything in the tank. But when I put that in they took right to it. I know it's the one coral that every one looks at the most and like the best.

As for what one to get I would only get one with a cone skeleton. My tank now is bare bottom but I have a box in it with sand just for that coral. I feed it once in awhile and it dose great. To me it seems like a very easy coral to take care of I don't do anything special for it. It gets treated the just like any other coral in my tank. I have had mine now for a year I think and it was in another tank for a year or better befor I got it. I would get another one if I didn't have this one but that's me.

But xroads is right on with what every one had said when I looked at getting mine. When I was reading on them when I got mine. But that is my exp with the one I have. If you want to see pic of it I can send them by text or try to post some of it. I know if something happened to mine the misses would make me get another one it's hers lol
