    It sucks, but 8:00 Friday evening it's going to be hard to get some help. I saw the post, but was heading out. By the time I got back it was late. I'm sure some of the views were from times that people think it not acceptable to call. Or they were from Sunday and they assumed the problem was handled. Or as mentioned people who were out of the area and wouldn't be able to help.

    @Jim@Jim if you enjoy the hobby I would hate to see you leave because of this. If we can get a time arranged I can certainly stop by and give you a hand. There are plenty of people in this club and the region willing to lend a hand to a fellow reefer. These people aren't always active on the forums, but get to know them, making friends and getting phone numbers. Help is only a phone call away.

    You should stay in the hobby there are very informative people in your area that i know will help and now you see some of the names :)

    This is the first time that I have seen this post. Sorry that happened to you. My number is 319-551-3760 if you still need help give me a call I can come over tonight after 7 or tomorrow after 3:30. have a small tank it you need to use it.

    Now this is the kind of stuff I know this club is capable of.... Thanks.. I don't typically post a whole lot on here but I do try to pm someone or text or call them if they are of in need of assistance. There are quite a few members I have helped over the years without posting on the site but helped them behind the scenes via text or pm's. It just irked me to no end when again I called jim right away when I saw he was in need of assistance, tried to give him some advice,and the next day I followed up with him and he had told me that nobody else had offered any words of advice or a giving hand. I know personally there are members in my area that has given assistance to myself when i was in need and there are a couple who have offered assistance to me currently who know of my surgery who offered to help with some tank maintenence. I know as a whole the community is great but when someone is reaching out as such just a quick note or a text or word of encouragement can get this person in need on their way. I have been a member for quite some time now and I know this is one of the things the group was originally established for . As a way to help others enjoy and have success with our hobby and not just a way to sell off our old goods and frags and such for which I am just as guilty as the rest.. we all like to upgrade and find great deals Haha...

    As most know Ive been in the process of getting out of the hobby and selling my house so I dont frequent the forums as much as usual. Im just now seeing this after being tagged. Was out of town all day yesterday and todays my fathers birthday. But if you still need help tomorrow my number is 319 329 0894.

    Just want to give a thank you to all that responded and a very big thank you to a few people that really stepped up!!!! 1st was Zach (Madmanmadrid) He came up here helped me with everything and got it back up and running We Started at about 5-6 and finished around 10pm on a work night!!!!Had to do more plumbing then planned and it was not something I could have done myself so I was so happy for the help. A very big thank you also goes out to the 1st guy I met off this site Roman!!!! He had the magic piece we needed at 930pm at night!!! and he had been calling and giving advice to me. again I just want to say thank you to all and I need to get more involved in the club and get to know some of you guys so I can learn more as well. Thank You to all!!!

    Great to hear you got it going again.
    Hopefully we'll get some activities going in the CR region this fall and you can get to know some more of the locals.

    Just logging back into GIRS after being gone for a while and I haven't been getting any email notifications sent to me. Is that a system glitch? If I'd gotten the email I'd logged in and posted for Jim to call me so I could've rushed over.

    @ThyRaven@ThyRaven theforum only sends you one message for a thread you are watching, and then any replies after that you don't get replies for until you view the thread for which you got the alert. This is not the same as before, where you would get an email for every single post (in a thread you were "subscribed" to) regardless of whether or not you had visited the forum recently.

    In this case, if you had been watching the forum that he posted in, you would have gotten an alert for his initial post. So you probably don't have that set, which is why you didn't get the alert.

    There's nothing "wrong". If you want to get an email for every new thread:

    • Click on Forums on nav bar to get to the Forums list
    • Click each sub-forum one at a time
    • At the top right corner click the "Watch Forum" link
    • Select how you want the alert (I select New Messages which includes new threads, then check Alert and Email)
    • Repeat for each sub-forum

    You will now get lots of emails from GIRS. Basically this makes it so you are Watching every sub-forum.
