Engineering Internship Question

Hi everyone, as some of you may know I am a Junior in Mechanical Engineering at Iowa State University and as of now I am in a bit of a predicament. I spent a good portion of this semester looking for a possible internship and have not had much luck. I was told by my academic adviser that one thing that might help me is to start looking for a job more related to my field and continue to put my name out in lots of different companies until I can find a internship. I know a bunch of you work for all kinds of different companies doing all kinds of different things and if any of you happen to know if your company is currently looking for interns in the Quad City area, I would really appreciate any help or references if possible. 
I would just like to add, that I do not expect a personal reference, I am not looking for any favors. I would just like to know if you are aware of any place that is looking for interns for the upcoming summer. Also, if a internship can not be found, any job openings in any field closely related to engineering would also be greatly appreciated to be made aware of.
