I've got a few kenyas that are getting unruly...imagine that. I like them now that they're 5-6" tall, but they're now dropping branches everywhere. So, question is...how can I effectively trim back all the frags that are popping up in various places on the rock? Is is ok to just cut them off flush with the rock? By doing that are those frags toast, or will they survive and able to be given away? Do I need to do anything to the rock to keep them from growing back?
btw...anyone looking for kenya frags?...got plenty...some also in the sand that can removed without damage.

I just grab them with two fingers as close to the base as possible, rip them off and throw them in the toilet. The bad news is that even if you get them to come off fairly clean, they still leave enough behind to regrow.

This is why they are on my list of "Never Again" corals.

Cut it off and scrub the area where it was growing really will with a toothbrush. If you cut it at the base you can set it on a bit of rubble and it should attach back to it if you are wanting to give it away.

If you only have a few cut them just under the base with bone cutters so you get a small amount of rock to. This is the only way to get rid of them for good. To prevent them from spreading again keep a eye on the mother and pluck off the buds that are about to drop. But this is very tedious as you have to do it daily.

Thanks for the feedback .. this was my very first coral 9 months ago, so naturally I was very excited to put them in the tank and watch them grow...and they did - very quickly. And I also knew little of how prolific they were going to be...WOW.....Soooo...I'll start stuck plucking and cutting.
I can see why they're on your banned list JB
Well, for the brave souls....Kenya frags anyone ?!!
