I'm debating on upgrading my aquarium when I move again in the summer. Would definitely make things easier by having the other tank set up and moving over livestock, then taking my time with the other tank tear down..
In any case, what size would you recommend? I currently have a 65g that is 36" x 18" x 24" tall. With the current tank, I have trouble reaching the bottom, which acts as a huge road block to my motivation to do some maintenance. I also love having a deep (front to back) foot print for space to aquascape with plenty of tunnels for my fish and places to mount corals. I'm pretty sure I would like to upgrade to a larger tank that would be shorter but allow more floor space in the tank. I have a 29g sump that I could probably use that I custom made. However, if that were too small, its always fun making things.
So, any suggestions? Wherever I move to, I'm hoping to have plenty of space for this so I can go a little crazy, but not super crazy. I'll still be busy with homework and such so it can't be too huge to require a lot of time as daily/weekly maintenance.
Let me know what your ideas are /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif Thanks!

I was thinking a 75. Do you feel that a RR takes a way a lot of space?

+ 1 on the cube. I have a 120g and would love to have a deeper one (front to back) Mine is 24x24x48, would rather have it 18x30x48.

I have a 75 and I think its way too small. I dont favor the larger front to back tanks, but I do like longer tanks. Personally, I like the 125. 6 ft long so plenty of aquascaping to do and gives the fish a good amount of space to swim. Thats gonna be my next tank, or a custom 8 ft tank. Longer the better for me /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif

I'm liking my 250 deep dimension and I don't have it completely set up yet. 60x36x27. I think you would have issues reaching anything in it without going for a swim though.
I like the look of cubes. 36x36 footprint would look pretty good if you have the room for it.

Thanks for everyone's input. I'm still not 100% sure if I'm going to do this, just because I'll be short on money to start as it is. May just suck it up and do the move with this tank. Someone mentioned something interesting though that I could have a custom tank built. I was planning on building the stand and canopy for it anyway so that would be a fun project.

Where do you even find a reasonably priced tank above a 55gallon? I am wondering similar things as to getting a new tank.

Watch the for sale section, and craigslist. Bigger tanks come up for sale pretty frequently.
