So I got my first anemone at the holiday party - a rainbow buble-tip anemone. Wondering whether to target feed it. I have different stuff I feed the corals - on a rotating basis - BRS reef chili, Red Sea Reef Energy, and also recently got some KZ coral food. Are those foods - I usually feed something 2 or 3 times a week - sufficient? Or do I need to target feed it some mysis shrimp or something similiar a couple times a week?

If you have clowns that are hosting the nems they will feed it for you. But I honestly dont feed mine at all even if they arent hosting it.

I have to admit i have been wondering what to feed and how often as well. Although my RBT looks healthy and seems to be growing, the arms never bubble up they are always just long and slender. Could that be due to feeding or lack of? Lighting?

I have found that bubble nems act different in everyone's tanks. Heck I have some bubbled up and some that are not.

I hand feed mine a piece of krill ever 10 days. My clowns do host but I find it rare they actually feed the nem for me. I at one point stopped feeding the anem for 1-2 months and I found that they started shedding the tentacles. I find I get better color and better bubbles when I feed on a schedule.

I cut up fresh raw shrimp or scallops into mouth size pieces for both of mine twice a week. I take tongs and bring it to the nem that way. Mysis wasn't enough for my condy and as a result it was moving all over the place because it was hungry. Also try switching foods after a while of feeding a specific one--- supposedly the nem could get bored and stop feeding and die (that was a tip given to me by another aquarist. Not personal experience.) Maybe since you're feeding the corals/fish a lot of food, just feed the nem once a week and watch it to see if it's content? That way you don't muck up water quality? Just a thought.

You can just by a raw shrimp and cut it up and feed it pieces when ever you feel like feeding. the more you feed the faster it will grow but you don't have to feed them at if you don't want to.plus it's fun to go into hyvee and ask for 1 shrimp they look at you like your crazy

I don't feed them. They've split numerous times too.

When I stopped feeding I went from 1 nem to 4 nems over a few months. Per a video on nems I seen a statement was made that nems likely split due to poor diet, stress or poor water quality. In the wild many nem's don't split unless damaged or portion of it dries due to high/low tide. My personal opinion is if a nem splits on its own, its an indication something isn't right.

Feed if you like but in a thriving reef like yours I don't think you really need to. I got rid of mine but when I had them I didn't feed the and they still got huge and split.
