I am looking for some thin but long feeding tongs. The aqua tongs and
similar products are WAY to big. The length is great but that clunky
giant grabber on the end is simply terrible. I don't need anything that
is going to allow me to move rockwork and stuff. Would prefer there to
be at least a two foot arm.

    Any suggestions?

How about a car antenna with an alligator clip on the end?
That way you could just extend it to the length you want when feeding and push it back in for storage.
Maybe I need to get a patent on this idea....LOL

HAHA pretty clever! I am wanting something that I can control the "mouth" with manually though. This is for feeding eels. I am training them to eat dead. They are doing well, if I make them think the food is live by wiggling it around. This can take a while though with me standing on a ladder hanging my whole arm in the tank. A little PITA lol.

They sell "reachers" in the drugstore section of stores like walmart or Walgreens for people with disabilities.....or online, in a variety of styles.  Some have suction cups on the end, some plastic serrated pincers etc.  Just find one with little to no plastic that fits your needs.
HERE is a link to some sold online so you can see what I mean /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif

I think you meant little to no metal? /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/wink.gif
I actually thought of this, but couldn't find anything with zero metal. I saw the ones with metal suction cups at lowes but they are chock full of metal. I think mostly aluminum (is that safe for a tank?) but I am mostly worried about the screws. If there are any screws I am sure they will rust to nothing in no time flat.

I have an 18" hemostat that is one of the best things I ever purchased for my tanks. You can feed, move rocks, pick stuff off the bottom, etc. I think they come in longer lengths but it is worth every cent you spend. I got mine on Ebay and I've had it for over 11 yrs.  I've used it almost every day for something or another.

I use the thinnest wooden dowel from the hobby section sharpened to dull with a pencil sharpener. I keep it sharp enough to just hold the bait and not hurt the eel. The cost is about 50 cents.
