My sump is in my basement, it is obviously where I do my waterchanges, run my skimmer and my other add-ons (such as my bio pellet reactor and my UV sterilizer.  Anyways, I would like to add a fish or 2 down there to help keep it clean.  I have a light on it, a 6500 daylight bulb that runs most the day.  I want a hardy fish that wont jump, any ideas?  What are you running in your sump?

wow, im dumb, haha. It's 40 gallons total, but it has live rock and a sand bed, also part of it will be cut off to protect from the return pump/skimmer pump. Total volume 40 gallons, swiiming area 20 or less.

ehh, I don't really like your idea. No fish will keep a sump clean. It is more likely going to get caught in a pump.

If it won't get caught in the pump (separate chamber)... a big starfish.

Yes fish really aren't a cleaning devise for a sump. Some food will go to the sump but not much. Look for snails, crabs, and star fish that eat detritus

I would put a goy in my some just because it would actually survive in there! /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/tongue.gif

Better to get a filter sock and change it frequently /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif What are you hoping the fish will eat in the sump?

whatever you put in there is going to get caught in your pumps. I don't put anything in my sump.

I have a yellow watchmen in my sump. He actually lives by the pump. He has been down there for quite a few months now and doing great. By the way he is not down there on purpose haha

Haha, my yellow watchman did the same thing.  The first two days I had him I ended up fishing him out of the sump probably 5 times.  Thankfully he hasn't gone back down there in the last year though.
