Well since I got my new tank up and going waiting on the cycle to do it things and I have nothing to do today I figure I make my fish wish list. Now these are fish that I would like to have not saying I am going to get them or put them all in my tank. I have to do further research and narrow down who, what, where, when and why lol. Whats your thoughts guys. I want a colorful tank. Its the start I am sure I will be adding and taking away. Also on a 180 gallon what rule of thumb for inches to gallon should we follow?

Fish wish list to narrow down

2 Sixline wrasses (male & female)

2 Ignitus Anthias or yellow anthias

    1 foxface or Magnificent Foxface

1 Whitecheek Tang or Blonde Naso Tang or Two Spot Bristletooth Tang

2 clownfish (unknown on what species)

    2 scooterblennys

1 Rusty Angelfish or Flame angel

1 Regal Angelfish (need to do more reading on this guy)

1 Papuan Toby Puffer or Blue Spotted Puffer (only seeing they may eat inverts but nothing on coral)

1 Diamond Watchman Goby or Orange Spotted Goby or Pink Spotted Watchman Goby (for the wife)

Well, since you haven't gotten any responses yet, let me throw out a few things.

Sixline wrasses are notorious for being like an agressive small dog. They are cute to look at, but can take off after even some of the largest fish in your tank.

Now, I have had a sixline in the past, and he didn't bother anyone, but every fish is different, and I consider myself lucky.

Anthius should be feed about 3 times a day. Be ready for that.

Make sure that your tank has been very, very well established before adding a blenny. Don't want the fauna in the sand to be depleted before it really gets started.

I have no experience with a rusty angel, but flames are wonderful.

Puffers are cool, but can be problematic in that they are known to be fin nippers of other fish.

Goby - Again, these will eat everything they can from the sand bed. They will compete with the scooterblenny(s) for food. Cool fish, just make sure that there is a lot for it to eat.

There is a GREAT thread over at Reef Central wher eyou can post your list with your tank size, and the "expert" monitoring that thread will give you more insight that I can.

Again, there are always exceptions, but you will find long term success information by going here:

Hey was just looking at your list also and I love Six Lines, but I usually go with a larger wrasse like a Christmas Wrasse or Melanarus. In my newest tank I went with a Mystery!

I would say with the little angels, Rusty are just as hard to keep as the flame, but the flame adds a lot of color. Depending on what clowns you go with, would depend on which of those I choose.

I have never been a huge fan of puffers just because of the diseases that they can carry for inside for soooo long.

Regals are gorgeous but not one of the best to keep in a newer tank!

I'd go with a regal for sure, beautiful fish and if you can find one small and eating you will be one lucky dude. Oh wait I happen to have one that's a little bigger then a silver dollar eating frozen for sale.

Is there "nicer" wrasses to go with? I also have x'ed out the puffer already. I have bumped the Anthias from 2 to 4 cause I heard its better to have a few more of them cause they like to school.? I wasn't planning on adding the scooter or the goby till there was enough natural food for them but do you guys think it would be better to choose either or of them two? I have been talking to a few ppl and they say wait till my tank is up and running alittle longer b4 getting a regal also and like I told them I figured I have to cause he wouldn't want to be they first fish I put in there wouldn't he want to be one of the last?

There are a lot of nice wrasse. I love flasher wrasses. Most of them are on the smaller size and when they flash the colors are amazing. Divers den has been the best place I have seen to pick up pairs, but AC&C also usually has a tank full of assorted wrasses and if you know what you are looking for you can pick up a male and a female. I also haven't had many issues with having multiple species of wrasse either. But I do try to get similar sized fish and my tank is a little larger than you have. You will need a screen over the aquarium. Wrasses are jumpers, and even with a screen I still have managed to lose a couple to the floor.
Anthias will not school in our aquariums. Maybe the first couple days when first introduced they will group up, but after they figure out its a safe environment they will swim around just like any other fish. Still they are a nice fish to have. Active swimmers and usually out in the open.
As for scooter blennies I have never had one, but they are pretty cool little guys. I do have a yellow watchmen Goby paired with a pistol shrimp and that's a very cool symbiotic relationship to observe.
