Hey everyone, I am new to the hobby. I recently purchased a flasher wrasse and put him in my tank. I had a orange percula clownfish, firefish, and a mandarin in with him. I went to work today and when I got home, I noticed my clownfish lying on the substrate. When he started to take off swimming, the wrasse flashed and went after him, grabbing him by the tail and dragging him backwards. He kept doing this until the clownfish would wedge between the liverock. Has anyone heard of this before? I looked on google and many people say that flashers are some of the most docile fish. Should I be worried about him messing with any of my other fish or coral? And I did see him dart at the one of the turbo snails too, but just bounced off the shell. Any thoughts would be helpful /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif

I am very surprised as well. What size of tank is it? I know several fish species being more aggressive by them self then in a school. Try adding a couple females plus he will get prettier.

He is in a Biocube 14...its a pretty small tank so I dont want to add too much more to it, im thinking if he tries to attack the other two fish in the (he killed the clown earlier) i might take him back to the shop i got him and just give him to them cuz i dont want a fish that is going to kill the others in a reef tank.

that really weird. Clowns being a damsel fish are fairly aggressive. Unless it was sick or something I would think it would kick a wrasses tail.

Well he did have fin rot (he had it when i bought him and didnt notice until i got him home) that i was in the middle of treating him for. The clown didn't even put up any sort of fight at all, he just ran around and the wrasse kept coming after him.

I would get rid of other fish and add 2 females. Watch him trying to impress the girls at dusk with his flashing is something everyone should see
