So im curious as to what specific kind of super glue is reef safe to adhere frags to rocks. I have a few frags on a rack that im wanting to get placed permanently in my rocks. Im looking for something that will work underwater. I was told that krazy glue gel or another similar product would work as long as it had cyanoacrylic (sp?) as the main adhesive chemical ingredient. I know i can get some from a fish store but i will not be near one for several weeks now so i was curious what my other options would be as far as what wal mart or a hardware store might sell.

What I do is take the plug put a little bit of super glue gel on it put w.e. I fragged on the gel then dip it in a bowl of my tank water then let it sit in there fora couple of min then place the frag in my frag tank

yep. Super glue gel. Look for something that has cyanoacrylate in the ingredients.

Have you done the math yet and realized dollar store super glue is not the cheapest way to buy it.... /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/wink.gif

I was advised by a long time reefer that JB water weld works... I've done a few frags so far with it, seems to work just fine, corals don't seem to be reacting badly to it.. I think it's approved for drinking water pipes too

Thanks to everyone for their opinions on what they use. I decided to go with Loctite brnd water resistant super glue gel with cyanoacrylate in it. Its what wal mart in my home town sold. I used everyones responses as a deciding factor in my purchase. I do want to clarify though before i use it...super glue gel with cyanoacrylate is safe to use directly inside and submerged in the water of the aquarium with no ill effects to livestock? When im near a fish store again i will try to remember to purchase a reef marketed brand of adhesive...was just in a pinch this time as i was tired of my glue jawed trigger bumping the frags on my rack and knocking them off into the substrate.

I saw the jb weld water weld at wal mart also...no offense though but the original jb weld has a distinct odor to it that makes me think that fish and corals may react negatively to it. I do appreciate your response though...i will say jb weld is amazing stuff...and if more people can confirm it can be used in a reef tank then that will be my adhesive of choice due to the original blends strength.

I use gel superglue for most frags, but have used JB Waterweld for many projects (mainly securing rocks). It does have a strong smell, but reef putty (which is made and marketed as reef safe) has the same odor, my bet is it is the same or very similar. I've never had any problems with either one.
