I am going to get my frag tank up and going in a next couple of weeks. It is an 80 gallon tank with a 36 gallon sump. Just curious on what people do. Bare bottom or sand? Also rubble rock in the fuge? Then pack rock where ever else it will fit in the sump? Also is the flow the typical 5x turn over or will that matter? My plan is to have my pump going to a 4 way split so I wont have to worry about power heads.

I would definitely go bare bottom in the frag tank and try to get as much rock in the sump as you can for filtration.

Can anyone else weigh in? Curious on how many times the tank Should turn over.

I ran both bare bottom and sand bottom, I prefer bare bottom. And I keep a fair flow in the frag tank.

I remember the 10/20/30 rule for softies/LPS/SPS tanks. But that's in the tank, sumo turnover can be less. According to Bob Fenner at SF14 you don't need much more than a few turns/hr in a sump

Ok then my set up will work. Putting the ecotech vectra M1 on it. Just wanted to make sure it wouldn't be too much since it will need to have a fair amount to split off 4 ways.

I try to have my sump turn over about 5x-7x/hour, slower gives it more time in the skimmer and whatever else you have in your sump.

I would probably go 10x flow with no power heads in tank maybe more. You have a nice pump so you should be able to increase or decrease for dead spots or too much.
I like sand in my refugium and I hack some marine pure blocks. I think that's the name of them. The really porus ceramic media blocks. They have rings and balls too. I like these. Take up less room and more porus than rock.

I run my frag tank bare bottom. With a couple hermit crabs a few snails a tang and coris wrasse for cleanup crew.

Frag racks I bought on ebay. Can't remember supplier. But they do custom orders too. Just search ebay. Unless you can find someone local.

What kind of corals? Are you wondering about in tank flow, or flow through the sump?

SPS in a bare bottom tank I wouldn't be afraid to go 30-50 x turnover in the tank. As long as you're not directly blasting the corals they won't mind it at all. LPS and softies don't need nearly the flow.
I would go fairly slow flow through a sump just to maximize contact time for skimmers, reactors, fuge and such.
