I broke a rock last night trying to eradicate some purple cap from my tank. The rocks have a couple hundred zoos on them and I would like to frag them onto plugs. Do I just rip them off the rock? Do I dremel tool them off the rock? Do I use superglue to attach them to the frag? I am clueless here.

You could use a dremel to cut them with a peice of rock that they are on..this way you would not have to worry about melting any of the zoos with superglue. I use a razorblade and very carefully cut them as close to the rock that they are on as possible. Then I superglue them to the plug also very carefully, because if you are just glueing a zoo straight to a plug there is a good chance you will kill them especially smaller ones. Also only use superglue gel other superglue won't hold. What kind of zoas are you fragging? If they are small I wouldn't try to cut them off the rock I would use a dremel and cut pieces of the rock off of the colony. Just my thoughts

I use bone cutters and cut the rock just under the mat of zoas. Then cut it into pieces the size I want ( cut through the rock with bone cutters and where the zoas are atached to each other with a razor blade ) and glue them to plugs.
