I have an orchid dottyback who is deciding to be a little to rough on my mandarin. She keeps nipping at my mandarin's tail when its feeding time trying to scare my mandarin away from the food (that's right! My mandarin eats frozen food!)
Anyway, my mandarin's tail is starting to look a little torn up. Overall, the dottyback is not aggressive, only tries to chase the mandarin away at feeding time. And the mandarin is the only fish she picks on.
She is about 1.5-2" long and is a vibrant purple. If anyone has a nice place for her, I'd just like to rehome her so she isn't worse for ware.
Please let me know if you'd be interested.
    Thanks,
    Kylie

I would take it but Im not sure if it will get along with my royal gramma. They would eventually be together in the 120g. What do you think?

lol idk if its actually a her. Just have been calling it a her. I think the royal gramma may be aggressive toward (or my dottyback may be aggressive to the gramma). Do you have any fish Jim that would conflict?

I had a a royal gramma and dottyback and the dottyback was mean to the the royal gramma, but the tank was big enough, so they just avoided each other most of the time.......I think you generally want to avoid fish that look somewhat similar as in shape/size.

I would build a trap out of a 1 liter pop bottle. You know the ones with the large wide mouth? Cut the top, invert it, and bait it. Problem is dottybacks are too smart for that probably. Good luck!

like this, the cone of the bottle guides them into the whole (actually they're cool and composed enough to just casually swim right in. Then once they're in there you reach in quick, they get startled and have a hard time bolting through the little hole, and the sides of the bottle won't guide them on the way out. Then just pull em up!
