I need to find a new home for my Royal Gramma. He's been obsessively hiding for the past 2 months, only gingerly coming out to eat. Well ...I discovered today why he's been doing that. Last night I did a water change and moved some rock around, thus disturbing the Royal Gramma's hiding place. Apparently, after the tank clean, he didn't find another good hiding spot. I noticed this evening that my Sailfin Blenny has been tormenting the Royal Gramma....he now has some tatterd fins but I think he's "ok".
So...first one to come get him can take him...but, he'll need some TLC
I'm in Marion, but, I'm agreeable to meeting somewhere...within reason.

RETRACTION.....looks like I spoke too soon. Sorry, but I have to retract my offer. He's beat up worse than I thought. I have him in quarantine, but I don't think he'll make it. I didn't think a guy could get beat up so bad that quickly !!

If he makes it, I live in marion and have a peaceful home he could call his own.

He didn't pull through. I can't believe something like that could happen so fast...and, I have a hard time believing my Sailfin could be so aggressive...he never bothers anyone - but it was obvious when I got home from work that he had been, and was still, torturing that poor Royal Gramma all day. That totally sucks.

My redspotted blenny tormented my jawfish non-stop, had to move the blenny to another tank because he would not stop chasing him out of his burrow. Sorry he did not make it /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/sad.gif

Sometimes fish in the jawfish family can become very hostile towards other jawfish, but its usually when they look too similar or there is a lack of space. Sorry about your gramma......

Blennies are "peaceful" according to all the profiles I've read...and this one was no exception...until recently anyway. And, I'm not sure what triggered the madness toward the Gramma. The Sailfin is still my favorite fish in the tank...despite this incident. He's very entertaining with a lot of character. Here's a picture from Liveaquaria of what he looks like:

My biggest issue now is determining what can be added to the tank without evoking a similar situation.
