Your last mistake was taking the painting over to her house instead of keeping it for yourself.

You just reaffirmed for her that you will drop whatever you're doing and attend to her whining/demands /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/pinch.gif  I know it must be incredibly difficult to say no to her after having lived this way your entire life, but until she knows you won't put up with her cr*p, she will continue to use you as a doormat.

I did it because my mother got involved, and i just want her to be happy. She made it about herself and i just couldnt let her think i didnt appreciate all she does for me now.
I sent Lisa a text saying " I am dropping off the painting and dont expect our relationship to be as it was." she never replied and she has not thanked me.
This was not a hard piece for me to do, so.... i doubt she thinks its any big deal. But it was exactly what she wanted, even though it is NOT my style of painting. I read up on the style and practiced the techniques. I got it her in less than 3 days of her asking for it.
Honestly- i hate this piece, so that makes me feel better.

all i can say is wow! she just walks over everyone. it sounds like if you talk to her it will backfire and naturally be your fault. i would maybe stop doing things for her until she realizes how much you actually do for her..???
do you by chance have a website with your work?

wow...I just now read this thread. I'm sorry to hear about the family messiness. Families are messy on every level...probably because 'people' are messy.

There's a lot of flavor and color to this story...in fact, I think you could sell this story. It would make a great movie....and it could go any direction....from dark and dramatic to light-hearted and comedic.

    Thanks for sharing

Yea, its wild. I truly wish i had kept a journal throughout my life. I can tell you, its never been boring. Maybe i will write s book, however, the chapters about my college years will be very long!

Things have not yet gotten better. But I've actually learned a lot about who my sister is from all of this. She has sought out other family members to take her side, but it has not worked out for her. They see her for who she is.

Some good has come from this though. the feud has sparked interest in my work and I have an old friend that wants me to do work for most of her home and she wants to have me meet her friends.

Don't have opinion on your family, but your artwork is nice.

I have to laugh, because I REALLY like this piece. Although, I also like the other piece you showed.

Well thanks. I hadn't painted in a while. Most of my art education was in fine/studio arts... so mostly drawing the human body and very little in abstract or creative arts. I used to paint with a little water color, and had one night of acrylic painting after a vigurous night at the bar i stumbled over to the design college and sat with a friend finishing her final. She gave me some scrap paper out of the garbage and gave me two colors to work with.. red and black. i painted a womans face... which made my friend a bit angry... b/c it was really good and hers pretty much was aweful. So, after 5 years ive picked it up and am still learning. i have no technique yet. I did these this weekend

my fav. This one was hard and took forever to get it right. I am going to put these in a cafe to sell them. They are each 14''x14'' canvases, and i was thinking $75 for the pair. do you guys think that is a good price... if not, tell me what is appropriate for something like this.

Oh yea, and Lisa has hung up the piantings, used my photos of her house, and sold her home yesterday. It took her one week.

You've definitely got talent. The leaf duo for the cafe is very good. It would look even better in a triplet. And, $75 is a steal. I've been in studios and seen bizarre 'bad' stuff for a lot more money.

btw....if you're looking for another outlet for your work, you can try showing some of your work to Campbell-Steele Gallery in Marion...very neat gallery with a variety of stuff.

You may be onto somethin'. I may finish about 6-7 pieces and skip the cafe and go to a local gallery. They do take about $50 of the money if u sell your work and then you have to watch the shop a couple times a week for free, but it could be a good start. I have done a couple others this week. I just need to paint purchasable stuff. So many galleries have stuff that is nicely done, but you may not necessarily see as something you want to hang in your home.
