My buddys yellow tang has black ich, this is a tank that he monitors at a clinic. Can he do a freshwater dip, as he doesnt have the means to QT the fish right now... Will this help?

Doing a fresh water dip will provide some temporary relief if the infection is bad. But putting the fish back into the display will reinfect the fish. The only sure way to get rid of it is a QT, treat with meds and leave the display fish-less for at least 6 weeks 8 weeks preferred. Black ick is actually a parasitic flatworm but treatment is generally the same as for ick.
