I had a friend offer me a good size piece of Frogspawn, and I have no clue whether or not I am set up for it. Anyone know more about Frogspawn that can guide me?
    55 gal tank, 1000gph return, 1 500gph powerhead (i have 2 korilia 4s, but too powerful for my fish) and a 2 bulb 48" T5HO (10000k and 18000k). 29 gap sump with RO 150 skimmer

I think you could give it a try. Your lights are a little on the weak side, but I would guess it would still be enough for frogspawn. They don't require a great deal of flow, just enough to keep the polyps swaying around. Too much flow and they will retract.

So no need for dosing or extra test kits?

regular water changes should suffice. With just the one coral it won't use up a lot of trace elements. You shouldn't have to start thinking about dosing until you get a pretty significant number of hard corals in there.
If you're wanting to start trying some corals its not a bad idea to get test kits for alk, calcium, magnesium, phosphate, nitrates to make sure your levels are in the ballpark and stable.

I was looking last night at upgrading my lights to a 4 bulb T5HO, 2 10000k, 1 18000k, and an Actinic with moon lights
