Something like, this? I'm building one for a friend, and was able to conjure up another spare 30 gallon tank from another friend, I would just need to buy more plate glass, silicone and bulkheads.
Of course this is a downloadable model I pilfered from the Google Sketchup library, and the ones I am building will not include the nice overflow teeth there on the refugium side (on the right), but will include a built in autotop-off via float valve. Pump and plumbing (other than the applicable bulkhead) not included (of course).

Since the second one is not yet built it can be customized to meet different specifications. PM me if interested.
I would like people to post what they would reasonably expect or wish pay for a sump like this, regardless of whether you're interested in buying or not. That way I can determine if it's worth it to try and pump out a few more of these in the future.
I have a price point in mind, it covers materials and a slim labor fee, I'm happy to give you my best price on this sump if you PM me, however I don't want to skew the results of my (quasi) poll.
Think of it as an auction, except, I'm going to sell the next one for
pretty cheap regardless of what you might be willing to pay.
I hope the moderators find this as an appropriate place to post this sale/poll. Please move the thread if you find it necessary.

Seems like an odd place for a return.....in the middle vs on one end.

The refugium portion is fed by a T from the return pump with a T ball valve, this way you get increased dwell time (enhanced nitrate fixation) in the refugium and less detritus build up. The fuge flows back into the return. The pump in the diagram is on the side where the drain water would come in (personally I would use filter socks there for media and detritus filtration) there it reacts immediately with the skimmer in that chamber. The pump in this diagram is oriented on the same side as the drain water, presuming that both holes are located on one side, thus reducing pipe between tank and sump, and reducing piping (and head pressure) in the return line. Of course this can be flipped so that the pump is oriented at the other end of the sump, or can be eliminated and a submersible pump can be used from the central return chamber.

I like the way the pump hooks up. So you can swap it out easily if it breaks down.

I didn't say I was giving it away! hahaha

The tank alone cost 50 bucks new. I got the second tank from a friend for $25, plate glass $35, silicone $14, float valve $13, bulk head $4, I'd like to pay Fishbrain $25 for his contribution with the first tank. Total: $91 per tank to produce. Plus I bought hole saws $35, silicone gun $8 etc. If I put all that together and divide it per tank that comes to $109 per tank to produce these first two, with $11 to cover labor, and if you don't include the building supplies that's still only $29, I'm not doing this for my own health you know! lol

Sure you can go out and buy the supplies you need (or maybe you already have them) and make one for $109, maybe you score a deal on a tank, or get it for free, but then you still have to DO it. I'm just saying, I've put all this into the first one why do another and sell it to save somebody some time, and make a couple of bucks to recoup.
