Well, we were at AE yesterday and saw a beautiful Fu Manchu lionfish. After much thought  I decided it was coming home with us. While we were the he looked smaller than what he does in our 75. Not to mention the size of some of our fish which I was thinking he was closer to in size. I have a feeling that some (more than not) of our fish may end up on the menu for the Fu. I guess if worst comes to worst he gets sold or we switch over to an aggressive tank./DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/blink.gif

Adam's brother claims that the Fu won't mess with my crabs or snails. I hope he behaves, but I guess we will have to wait and see.

    Fu Manchu menu size.

    Safe fish,
Med sized purple tang (that is not taking to the Fu at all)
    Large PJ cardinal
    Med rail road goby

    Possibly not safe,
    Spotted green mandarin
    Med lawn mower blenny

    Probably not safe,
Two small to med blue eyed cardinals
    Two med Perc clowns
    Med ghost goby

Most of the time if it can fit in the mouth and sometimes even if it doesn't fit in the mouth its supper, but there's always the opposite of just leaving things alone. Here's a link to a nice article regarding all species of lionfish.

I read that article a while back, definitely a good one. I've wanted a dwarf lion for a long time so I've done a lot of reading on them. Where I think I got in trouble was with my guestimation of the size of the fish in our tank versus the size of the Fu. Since the Fu only get 's 4-5 inches it close to full grown now. That being the case I'm thinking I might be safe with most of the fish in there, but I've been wrong a lot before.

Is it eating frozen food? If he is you will probably be safe with your fish. Your crabs and snails are safe but if you have any shrimp they will probably be dinner. We have keep a fuzzy dwarf with a shrimp goby and never had an issue but the goby was larger(lengthwise) than the lion and the lion was eating frozen food so he was never hungry.

I think if you keep him well fed he will leave your fish alone, just to much work otherwise. But if you feel the need to get rid of him I know of a good home for him/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/wink.gif

    Hope all goes well.

If it was the one in the bottom right 55gal i would be praying for your cardinals, percs, and goby. like teresa said these guys can swallow prey the size of there bodies. and they will try if there hungry. best thing to do is find yourself some ghost shrimp (teskes carries these i think) and get him fat and happy as quick as you can.

When did they get him in? We must have missed him when we were there on Sat or we were just too interested in the angel and the moorish idol.

When I bought the Fu it was Sunday afternoon and they said it was in the store for a week. He was the one that was in the lower tank to the left of the small tanks that have the snails and shrimp in them. That reminds me, I have no shrimp.

No more Fu. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/sad.gif I was sitting here (in another room) watching it swim in the front of the tank which it never does when it suddenly darted to the center of tank. By the time I got to it it was limp still in the little cave it shot into. I have never seen anything like it, besides the time the blenny committed suicide trying to escape Joe at the shop. I still can't believe it. What makes it worse is I'd just sent tasha6 a PM asking her if she was interested in it. I'm bummed, border line in shock.
