So i been battling GHA for about a month or so. I went out of state to texas for a family emergency. Everything in the tank was happy and doing great. Came back and green hair algae took over. So I tried everything gfo carbon water changes and even tiny bit of carbon dosing. When I had the reactor running i couldnt close the door to the sump so at night i would torn my fuge lights off because they bugged me being on at night. Well for the past week I haven't really been home so I left the fuge lights on and i accidently left the main display lights off for 2 days. well the cheato growth exploded and now 90% of the GHA is gone. Guess lights out trick works as well as having a fuge light on 24/7. So question is who leaves their light on 24/7 and who does the opposite of the displays?

I run mine 16 hours. Off at peak light time in display. I have heard of people doing 24-7 lights on but I haven't tried.

I do an 18 hour on, with 6 off. The 6 off is from 9am to 3pm when my regular lights are on, but that's mainly for any pods that want to be active and get sucked into the main tank. Can't prove that this is happening but that's what I believe :)

24/7. Cheato grows fast and the only algae I have noticed recently was a quarter sized piece of ulva growing off a snail in my fuge. I regret removing it and not taking a picture...
