I have heard it is worth it, however I have been to Atlanta 3 times now and have not gone. In March it is just my wife and I and I am definitely going to go. You will have to let me know how it is.

I will be in the area a week from today, but I don't think that I will have time to go. I fly into ATL, but my office in the area is north in Duluth, and it is a good drive up there and thus a decent drive back down towards the aquarium after work while I am there, especially since it closes at 5 pm during the week.

Is it worth going to? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND?!?!?!?!?!?!? YES it's worth going to! It's the LARGEST aquarium in the world! Did you not see the spread they did in CORAL Magazine on the place? They have a 165,000 gallon reef tank! They 4 whale sharks in a 2 million gallon tank! You crazy if you have to ask man! lol GO! Take pictures!

You will not be disappointed. Hell anytime you get to see marine life on that scale it is worth the cost IMHO. Have fun. Been thinking about taking a Saturday trip to Shedd with the kids. Of course it would be entirely for their enjoyment. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/wink.gif

Honestly tho, I was disappointed with Shedd Aquarium. I suggest going west to the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha. Their aquarium building is AWESOME very impressive for a smaller exhibit. They probably have 20-30k gallons in there anyways.Lots of variety.

My family and I were there over the summer. It is one the the best things we have done on vacation. We spent over 2 hours looking at the Whale Sharks alone. If you can I would spend at least 2 days going through so you can see everything.

I would absolutely consider paying for the backstage tour and any extras you can get when you go to the Georgia aquarium. I have a friend who did and she 1.)said it was AWESOME! and 2.) Has GREAT pictures of a very interesting and complexly engineered place. It is the most technologically sound and advanced aquarium in the world. So many of the authors, researchers, journalists, biologists, engineers, chemists, and photographers from the world marine aquarium hobby came together to design the best system possible. Including names like Yaiullo, Delbeek, Sprung, Calfo, Vera, Joshi, and many many others.
