Anyone familiar with macro lens photography? Any help on settings to get good pics of fish, would be greatly appreciated. Kevin

Yes. But I'm laid up with a head cold that's trying to have me cough up my lungs. would be happy to help you out afterwards. :)

I would think fish would be really tricky. They don't tend to stay still too long.
Love me some good macro shots though.

Read quite a few articles on line. Just wanted feedback on fellow local reefers. See what settings and distance they use for successful macro fish pics. It maybe the case just a lot of practice and trial and error are the keys. Thanks for any kind of feedback. Kevin

Tripod is a must for macro otherwise it gets blurry. Works best when there is a lot of light, so at the peak of your cycle or around mid day. You'll need to be close to the tank but due to the depth of field you may need to move back and forth so make sure you have room to move about. I like to put our Nikon into manual mode and adjust the shutter speed and f stop. I generally leave ISO on auto. I start with 1/125 shutter speed and about a 5 f stop and go from there depending on how lens I'm using and how bright the picture is. Also take about 3 photos of the same thing as you'll probably end up throwing away half of them because they will be blurry.

Here's my flickr page. It should list the camera setting that was used when you click on a picture :) That's also a nice way to get a good guideline.
