GIRS Web Site Changes - 1/28/2011

    I'm going to reboot our web server at about 8pm, so the site will be down for a few minutes but it should be right back up...




    Also, I'm going to be making some significant changes to the site later this evening...  Thanks might get weird for a bit while I re-organize stuff so bear with me...

    Everything is scrunched to the left side of the page, how do I expand it out?

    Thanks all.   I thought we were do for a change and what better time than right before we start the new year with our business meeting.   
    One of the focuses of this update was to revamp the home page.   I've already added the activity feed below the news.   Unfortunately, the other things that I was planning on adding are not quite done yet or are waiting on bug fixes....   So, there will be some cool new stuff added in the near future.
    The new styles have messed up a few things in the forum display, so I'm not 100% happy with that yet and I've noticed that there is an unnecessary scroll bar in Safari/Chrome that I should have a fix for soon.
    But in any case, I'm glad you all like the design, it was a lot of work to put together, but I had fun with it.
    Craig:  Is the display still messed up for you?  If it is, press Control-F5.   This will force your browser to reload all of the site content and ignore anything that it has cached.   If that doesn't work for me, let me know what web browser you're running.   And uh....   If it's IE version 6 well...   Time for you to upgrade...  /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/sick.gif/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/tongue.gif

    Oh, and we're planning on having some new opportunities on the home pages for LFS's in the club area, but I believe that's on the agenda for the meeting today...

    Hey Craig,

    If you are using IE 8, make sure that you have compatibility mode turned off for this site. When I put IE 8 into compatibility mode, I see what you're describing.

    To turn off compatibility mode, click on the button just to the right of the URL bar (It looks like a broken sheet of paper).

    If you're still using IE7, I would HIGHLY recommend that you upgrade to 8 (it's free).

    I really like the way it looks but it "scrolls" up and down very badly. Will that be something that gets better or maybe its just my PC?

    Do you have zooming turned on? My experience has been that it can really affect performance with scrolling and such.

    Ok

    I have downloads IE8, but I have no broken paper thingy by the URL.

    Where else can I go find out how to get my forums back to full screen?

    If you're using IE, I would just switch to Firefox. I only use IE for specific sites that require it. My life is much better.
