    +1 - Does anybody know if the usual method of "cooking" rock creates the same toxins in the air? It seems likely that toxins are produced but at a much lower level. Hopefully the reduced volume per day would be handled by normal ventilation.

    I guess my question would be do all zoas have this toxin?

    All zoa have it to a degree, some much more than others

    "cooking" is not literally cooking like you prepare a meal. Live Rock Cooking is simply putting rock in a body of water with lots of flow and no light and letting bacteria remove all of the built-up.

    Also you should never take live rock out and scrub it under hot running water. Basically vaporizes such possible toxins and can easily send you to the hospital. For that matter, when even fragging zoas of any kind, eye and/or total face protection and hand protection is in order as they can squirt, and if toxins get in your eye, bye bye eye. There's another thread about the scrubbing in hot water one, sent a guy to the hospital in a similar manner.
