Ok ,I am one step closer to getting my 90 gallon set up. I want to make sure that if there is a power outtage my tank will be able to survive . I got a champion 9000 watt surge 7000 watt constant generator with remote start , low oil and low emissions. It also has inteliwatt or something that makes it safe for delicate electronics. So I feel much better about that part at least. Plus it can run most of my house as well. I put it together and ran it for a while, very smooth no fumes or jumping around and it was only 599.00 at costco. Last day for the rebate and It was down to the wire to, only had 8 minutes to close. Anybody else have a generator hooked up for their tanks? Loved to hear about your setups!

Are you running it through a sub panel, or how do you have it connected?

I don't have a generator. I rarely ever lose power (knock on wood). I have an inverter that should be able to power the necessary tank equipment for awhile if the time comes.

I havnt bought one yet, but I need to. I built my new garage last year, and had a 220 wired up so I could plug in a generator and run it in the garage, and backfeed it into the house to power the house if I lose power. Sounds like a good deal tho!

Congrats on the generator! I've had one for years for my tanks (and fridge, etc) and I run it every so often to make sure it is ready/working when needed... Wouldn't be without one living in Iowa!
