Yes Green Water can be split one more time before cellular degeneration granted perfect conditions are met...sterial water and culture vessels free of bacteria and sediment anything deposited on the sides of culture vessel will trap and kill cells causing a reaction killing your culture, bacteria will have the same result. I scourer and microwave all culture water and vessels...I have tried without and have had mixed results. Light , aeration and food are needed as well, I use compact fluorescents 50/50 and Gallard's f/2 from Florida aqua farms for food. Meet these conditions and in 7-11 days depending on how much nitrate was added harvest can be made when nitrate levels are near 0 ppt. I love turning my aquatic creatures green after feeding i lift a rock and instead of a bunch of clear scuds and zoo-plankton little green buggers go shooting out every were same will artemia, copods and sponges all turn really green. Sorry have to tell this story it is hilarious, to me at least...this is proof to me this Green Water is no joke...OK here it is hope u don't think i am careless because of this but when i harvested 20 gals last night i found even though i handle my artemia responsibly i still got 1 some how in green water OH NO contaminant! This sucker was the biggest quickest brightest green thing i ever saw (didn't ever know they could get that big and i feed green water to my artemia cultures too) about an inch from front to tail wow! Levels of nitrate were at or above 40 at times and not only did it live but it was the healthiest specimen i ever saw and only had about a month to grow WOW the power of GREEN WATER! Jeremy

No, I have never tried green water but intend to. The more information the better.
If you can only split it once how do you keep a culture going?

A continuous culture is really only splittable up to 4 times. Each culture is started with a Micro Algae Disk from Florida Aqua Farms, one disk can inoculate two cultures and from there it is split three times by me. A culture disk contains coagulated cells of first generation green water treated with double fertilization to inhibit cell growth so culture disks last 8 or more months. lots of work, and if done wrong it may work a few times but when you need it you will find cultures failing...no room for failure in aqua culturing...can become very expensive! Cultures start loosing potency around the fourth split, again i have tried and had varying results (takes forever to use nutrients as well basically slow cell division more time for something to go wrong)...but why have a chance off failure if you already know the remedy! It is a science and there is a difference between just doing it and doing it right for a highly viable end product. Trust me spending hours getting a culture going only to sit and watch it go clear and cells fall and collect on bottom and walls of your culture vessel make you want to give up...but don't, it was only one or more variables of about hundred that can go wrong...about like anything saltwater related.
