I have had some success recently dipping frags in a 1:4 solution of hydrogen peroxide:saltwater for 5-10 minutes.
The hair algae has died and gone away in a matter of a few days.
This has worked on zoos only. The same method has killed a couple SPS frags. Have not tried it on LPS.

I tried this and had great success. I sprayed full strenght on the rocks I removed from my tank and was very pleased. I did a toad stool only spraying its base and the rock it was attached to and it died. So I would shy away from dipping or spraying the LPS. Use an eye droper maybe to target would probably be the route to go.

I have dipped star polyps,  clove polyps, polyps, zoanthids, ricordias, and dendros in a 1:4 solution of hydrogen peroxide:saltwater for 10 to 15 minutes.  It does a good job, it will kill coralline algae but it comes back.  On more porous surfaces you might have to repeat if the algae starts growing back. Using a tooth brush helps. The algae will whiten and die and if you have blue hermits they love to clean up the dead algae.  It is my understanding that SPS do not do well with hydrogen peroxide so I would not dip them.

In that thread about this on RC, I believe they used a 50/50 solution of peroxide to SW......I have used it on turf algae, but it take a couple dips to really make it go away.
