Advice? Has anyone tried the T5/led hybrid fixture?

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by DSPENCE, Feb 25, 2016.

  1. Looking at getting new lights. I like the fluorescence from the led's but don't want to give up the look and results I get from the T5's. Giesemann makes one that looks pretty nice but is kinda pricey. Does anyone know of another brand that's well made?

ATI powermodule. I don't own one but have seen a few tanks with these. Nice light but way over priced. You can do same thing by adding reef Brite blue led bars on front and rear of an ATI Sunpower with good results. And cheaper but you don't have the dimming control on that like you do the hybrids

I run a coralvue t5/lled combo they dont make them anymore but for bulbs I run 4 blue plus, 1 super purple, 1 coral plus, and 2 e5 blue pop bulbs. If you want to add leds you can add either the e5 bulbs or get a reefbrite to add to your fixture.

With the e5 bulbs you dont get spotlighting like you do with leds its a nice clean line of color and gives off great par just like a regular t5

    I'm not running a hybrid fixture...but am running led's with t5's. Running 3 Kessil a360we's with 4x 24" t5's. 2 blue+ and 2 Fiji purple. May still add 2 more t5's but loving the combo so far.

I traded a good portion of my dart frog collection for it. Found a guy on East Coast who had similar interests and an extra Hyperion fixture.

That's gonna be sweet! Pacific sun makes some excellent products!

  10. Thanks for the input...gives me some things to check into. Will be watching for your impressions of the Hyperion fixture. Do you know where it's made and how long it's been on the market?

ReefBrite lights:0) They have metal halides, T5's, Leds and Hybrids. Water quality, lighting and flow...the 3 basics for corals.

    Hybrid T5HO | ReefBrite.com
    24" $332.33
    36" $380.38
    48" $446.45
2 T5 bulbs and single led bracket. The best of both worlds...T5's for the growth you want and Leds for the color!

One thing to take into consideration with the reefbrites is the price doesnt include the leds. Thats just for the T5 fixture. Then you have to buy the brackets to mount the leds and the led strip, as they have a few led styles to choose from.

If you have any questions about the ReefBrite's, DSPENCE, just let me know. I am an authorized dealer of ReefBrite's. If I can't answer your question(s), I'll ask Tullio since he makes all their lighting.
