Looking for some input. As some will note, my water during the tank tour was clear. I added 3 anthias, 25 snails, 25 crabs a few other CUC on Wed last week, some chaeto on Sunday and no other changes. Last night when I came home from the grind, my water was hazy. Not cloudy yet, just hazy. I run bio-pellets, skimmer and a sump with live rock. No one seems impacted except my acans were not as fat and fluffy as usual. Is it possible the added bio-load could have caused a bloom with the pellets? The snails haven't looked that good, poor movement, always on their backs. I have enough snails that I would think a feeding frenzy would take care of them had they perished. I plan a 15 gallon water change tonight, test the params and nothing else.  I will keep all posted. Does anyone have thoughts?

My take on this is that some of the snails are probably dead and rotting. Take them out and put them in a small dish faced down. Leave them for a few hours. If they move, put them back in your tank. If not, they are most likely dead and should not be returned to the tank. The rotting snails are likely adding additional bio-load which could be causing a small bloom in your biopellet reactor. Remove the snails and do a water change as planned. It should clear up on its own.

Yeah i think it could be a bloom, and related to the added bioload and the ferocity of that bio pellet reactor. I think you're probably in okay shape, water change and removing some snails is a good idea. my tank goes through hazy periods and slight coral discoloration occassionally too, I replace GFO/carbon one week, and then do a water change the next to counteract

I agree with a bacteria bloom due to the increase in bioload.

so i did the 15 gallon water change and everything looks good. i had a dead fish (little sailfin blenny) and there were 10 of the new astrea snails that had empty shells. obviously my CUC took care of them. Looking a lot better today. THanks guys!
