My name is John, I'm new to the website and the club - I just joined both today. I've been in the marine hobby for just about 2 years now - still learning a lot. Prior to that I used to keep fresh water planted tanks. I always wanted to do marine though. I'd tell myself, one day I will have a coral tank. In January 2013 I took the plunge. I really enjoyed keeping the planted tanks, but there is something about a coral tank. Everything is just so vibrant in reef tank, there is so much life.

I currently have 29G BioCube that is in the middle of a renovation. I have derimmed the tank and completely removed the rear "sump" area. I just finished cleaning the glass and re applying some black silicone on the exterior seams in the rear. Once that cures, I will be painting the back panel black and drilling it for an overflow and 2 returns. I am building a custom acrlyic sump that will fit into the stock BioCube stand which will be roughly 17"x17"x15". The sump will contain a filter sock, a Bubble Magus NAC 3.5 skimmer (planned), a BRS dual reactor (gfo, carbon) (planned), a refugium with red mangroves and chaeto algea, Eheim Jager 100W heater, and a Sicce Syncra Silent 1.5 return pump. The display will be lit by an Aqua Illumination Nano (just shipped), and a Vortec MP10 for water movement. I will have a shallow black sand bed and approximately 30 pounds of fiji rock. I have 2 clowns, a whiptail fairy wrasse, and a firefish goby. I lost most of my coral when I crashed my tank earlier this year due to making some filtration changes that didn't work out and not monitoring my salinity from my salt water reservoir. It was due to the crash that I decided to make the changes I am doing now (de-rimming, overflow, and new lights). So I will be starting fresh with my coral.

I look forwarding to chatting with and meeting you all.
