A short introduction to my history in keeping fish:
I started keeping fish as a young kid, probably about 12 or so, always freshwater. At some point in my late teen years I passed my last tank over to my younger brother and didn't keep another fish for 10 years. When my daughter was turning two I got to thinking about how much I enjoyed keeping fish as a kid and so bought her a 5 gallon tank to put on her dresser. She liked it a lot, but not as much as I did. I was hooked again. I would just sit and watch her fish, even after she'd fall asleep at night. Next was a 10, then a 20h, then a 29, then a 55, then a 70. Somewhere in there I started keeping african cichlids and working to build environments that were natural to them. While talking with a fellow fish-keeper, who kept saltwater tanks as well as cichlid tanks, he explained how a FOWLR tank was about as easy as keeping a cichlid tank. I decided to give it a try and converted my 70 from freshwater to saltwater. He was (mostly) right, it wasn't too hard. A couple years later I bought a 300 gallon tank and began to experiment with reefs. As they say, the rest is history. It has been 10 years since I bought my daughter that 5 gallon tank and I have spent the vast majority of it keeping one or more saltwater aquariums (I still keep a cichlid tank, I can't help it) of various sizes and designs. They each a have a place in my heart, FOWLR, reef tanks, predator tanks, eel tanks, etc. About the only thing I haven't kept is a jelly fish tank, but who knows what the next 10 years will bring.
I hope to be active on the site, but we'll see how much time is left after work, kids, and everything else.  I look forward to learning from each of you.

Welcome Justin and I see that you paid already, that's great! You definitely will get what you paid for.

The Des Moines group is a nice bunch and pretty active. Spring Fest at the Fairgrounds is right around the corner and it should be a good one.

Check the 'sticky' at the top of the intro forum for instructions on how to set your location below your username on your posts.
