well my no qt practice has finally bit me. got the blue tang out easily, yesterday the lionfish had very cloudy eyes, and mr puffer wasnt happy either. w/c yesterday and again today, the eyes and appetite have improved. i dunno, continue with w/c every day and wait and see? But how could the tang be active and eat like a pig up til the last moment? Is there a chance to save my beloved puffer?  [IMG] please no lectures on qt, I think I feel bad enough[IMG] actually I was hoping it was because of high nitrates,as they were off the chart, and both my sw tanks have never registered before....

Steven Pro's article on RC has given me some hope, I'm following his # 1 solution and will report back, in case someone else encounters this...

I am sure you did, but test your ammonia. High ammonia can give the same symtoms as brook or velvet

The more I research, the more I don't think it is velvet.  I think maybe more because of poor husbandry. That does it!!!! Reminds me of AJ's thread, trust, but verify. I got talked into letting up on my water changes on another forum because "salt water aquariiums cant take it" well Im going back to weekly after I hopefully get this under control.  Thanks, I will check ammonia..... wish I was home.... Another huge W/c today, everyone is happy except Mr lionfish, he still is not eating, anyone have ideas on what I can do? Have had him over a year and eats like a trouper, I make my own food for them, marine quality with added selcon, no guppies here...

and it gets worse, Im convinced now it was/is velvet.Lost lionfish and my beloved pufffer last Thursday. Today during w/c I notice flame angel hasn't shown her face (reef tank) and mrs clown has some suspect spots. Im baffled HOW can this happen in 2 different tanks that dont share any equipment (nets, algae scrubbers) etc...then it dawns on me my hubby, who was only trying to help by getting my dead pets out for me because I was so upset, he put them in the water pitcher I use for fish only, to take them outside(he buried them for me) , yep the pitcher I use to top off R/O water for both tanks...according to trusted sources velvet can kill a healthy fish that fast (flame angel) yep 2 days, I just hope someone else reads this and starts to QT their fish before this happens to them, its a pretty awful feeling knowing your beautiful, happy and healthy fish suffer and die because of what you did...
